From messy sheets and frame dumps to one clean strip

  • Messy sheets

    Uneven or stuck frames.

  • Loose frames

    run_01… needs one strip.

  • Too many files

Idle, run, jump — one by one.

How it helps: Drop a sheet or a folder of poses. SpriteFix finds the frames, packs a clean strip, and opens Ready so you can scrub every cell, set export size, loop the animation, grab a GIF, or download the PNG — including multi-sheet batches in one ZIP.

Trim, flip, and rotate the sheet before you clean

  • Empty borders

Padding and gutters eat the crop.

  • Wrong facing

Sheet faces left; game needs right.

  • Rotated art

    Strip landed on its side.

How it helps: Open Crop on the source before you re-clean. Zoom into the strip, flip horizontal or vertical, rotate 90°, and drag a tight box so only the frames you want stay — then save crop and clean again.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to common questions. Click any question to expand.

What does SpriteFix do?

SpriteFix cleans messy sprite sheets and folders of frames. It finds each pose, makes the sizes even, lines feet up, and gives you a clean strip (or a ZIP). Drop files and go — most times you need no settings.

I'm new — how do I make a game with sprites?

Clean your art first, then write a small game loop. Our free guide shows sprite basics and a tiny HTML game: Docs → First game (new makers). Then open Workspace to export a clean strip for the guide.

What file formats and sizes are supported?

PNG, JPEG, or WebP (PNG is best for sprites with transparency). Exports are always PNG. Up to 4096×4096 each. Free and Basic: up to 10 files / 2.5MB per batch. Pro: up to 100 files / 4.5MB.

Is SpriteFix free to use?

Yes — try the full clean workflow free. Free downloads have a watermark and use _spritefix in the file name. Basic is $4.99 once (no monthly fee): removes the mark and keeps your original names forever. Pro ($14.99 once) adds bigger batches, cut-by-grid, ZIP of frames, grid layout, outlines, and size data. See pricing.

What do I get for $4.99?

Basic is a one-time purchase: clean downloads (no watermark), original file names, same batch size as free (10 files / 2.5MB). No subscription. Most people only need this. Pro is optional if you want 100-file batches, grid cut, ZIP frames, and layout tools. Get Basic.

Do you keep my sprite art?

Uploads are used to process that request only and are not kept long-term as a permanent art library. You own your art. Details: Privacy and Data.

How do I clean one sheet vs many sheets?

One image: drop it, wait for Ready, download (export is PNG). Several full sheets: drop them together — we clean each one (different lengths are fine). Numbered frames like run_01 become one strip. If we are not sure which case it is, we ask before cleaning. Need a special job? Open Guided setup.

Why did it ask how to treat my files?

When you drop several files and we cannot tell if they are poses of one animation or separate full sheets, we pause so we do not guess wrong. Choose Combine into one strip for pose folders, or Clean each sheet for Idle/Run/Jump packs. After Ready you can still open Guided setup if the result is wrong.

Why are downloads always PNG?

Game engines expect transparent, lossless strips. PNG keeps alpha and sharp pixels. You can upload PNG, JPEG, or WebP — JPEG/WebP are converted for processing, and clean exports stay PNG.

Which game engines work with SpriteFix exports?

Clean strips and (on Pro) ZIP files of frames work with Unity, Godot, Unreal, GameMaker, Cocos2d-x, and any tool that cuts a sheet by fixed size (32 / 64 / 128 / 256).

Can I export a GIF for promotion?

Yes. On Ready, use Download GIF under the animation preview. It uses your current frame size and speed — good for store pages, Discord, and social media. On Free, the GIF uses the watermarked preview.

Why won’t the animation play?

Play needs more than one pose on the strip you are viewing. If Ready says something like 8 sheets cleaned, each file is its own strip — for a folder of poses, open Guided setup → Combine frame files. If it says 8 frames, you should see Frame 1 / 8 step through. More help: Docs → Troubleshoot.

Can I change settings after processing?

On Ready, change the Frame size buttons to clean again at a new size. For a different job (combine frames, multi-sheet, grid), open Guided setup, or Start over.

Can I crop or edit before processing?

Yes. On Ready, select a file and click Edit image. The editor fills the whole screen and has zoom for small pixel art: crop, flip, rotate 90°, remove a solid background, and erase stray pixels (eraser needs Basic). Each file keeps its own crop, and you can open it from Guided setup too.

What if my sheet has many rows of poses?

If the art is a multi-row grid (for example two rows of pet poses), we often split it into one clean strip per row so each animation plays on its own. You can also use Guided setup → Split grid into row sheets (Pro) when you need full control.

Can I add or remove files after Ready?

Yes. On Ready use + Add more, or × on a card to remove. If you remove the last file, you go back to the drop zone.

Who owns the copyright to the processed sprites?

You do. SpriteFix does not own your uploads. We only clean them for that request. You must have the right to use the art you upload.
