Sprite sheet cleaner, online

Drop a messy sheet. Get an even strip with every frame the same size and standing on the same line.

Cleaning and previewing are free on every plan. Only the unmarked download needs Basic ($4.99 once).

Most sprite sheets you download, buy, or export from an art tool are uneven. Frames sit at different heights, the padding changes from cell to cell, and one stray effect pixel throws the whole row off. In an engine that shows up as a character who bobs, slides, or sinks into the floor while the animation plays. SpriteFix opens the sheet, finds where each frame actually starts and ends, and rebuilds the row so every cell is the same box with the art bottom-aligned inside it.

Sound familiar?

  • Frames drawn at different sizes, so the character grows and shrinks mid-animation.
  • Uneven gutters and stray padding that break a fixed-size cut in your engine.
  • Feet sitting at different heights, which reads as bouncing or sinking in-game.
  • Solid black or coloured backgrounds where you expected transparency.

How to do it in SpriteFix

  1. Drop the sheet

Open the workspace and drop a PNG, JPEG, or WebP sheet. Nothing to configure first — SpriteFix reads the image and picks the job for you.

  2. Let it find the frames

SpriteFix scans for separate islands of art, or for an even grid when the sheet is packed in equal cells, and shows you which one it chose.

  3. Check the Ready preview

The Ready panel shows the cleaned strip, the frame count, and a live animation you can play, scrub, and loop before you commit.

  4. Pick your frame size

Choose 32, 64, 128, or 256 px cells. Every frame is padded to that box and bottom-aligned so the feet land on one line.

  5. Rub out anything that should not be there

On the Ready screen, open Edit image to rub out a signature, a stray spark, or a leftover guide line, then save to clean again. The eraser is included with Basic.

  6. Download the PNG

Free downloads carry a watermark. Basic is $4.99 once and gives you clean, unmarked PNGs with your original file names, forever.

What you get back

  • One PNG strip, equal cells, no watermark on Basic or Pro.
  • Bottom-aligned art so the feet stay put during playback.
  • A frame count you can paste straight into your engine's import settings.
  • An animated GIF of the result if you want to post it or check timing.
  • An eraser for the junk no detector can guess at — signatures, stray sparks, guide lines (Basic).

What it will not do

  • Very dense combat sheets where trails and VFX visually bridge two frames can still merge — use Cut by grid (Pro) when the sheet is a true even grid.
  • Exports are always PNG. We do not write JPEG or WebP out, because sprites need real transparency.
  • SpriteFix does not draw, redraw, or generate art. It cleans what you upload.

We would rather tell you the limits here than have you find them after paying. Full list in the limitations chapter.

Clean, preview, and play as much as you like for free — free PNG downloads carry a watermark. Basic removes the mark for life for $4.99 paid once. Pro ($14.99 once) adds grid cutting, per-frame ZIP export, and bigger batches. There is no subscription.

Questions people ask

Is the sprite sheet cleaner free?
Yes — uploading, cleaning, previewing, and playing the animation are free with no account. Free PNG downloads carry a SpriteFix watermark. Basic removes it for life for $4.99, paid once, with no subscription.
Do I need to know the frame size before I upload?
No. SpriteFix measures the sheet and detects the frames. You only choose the export cell size (32, 64, 128, or 256 px) at the end, and you can change it and re-export without re-uploading.
Does it work on sheets with a black background?
Yes. Many sheets ship with a solid black or near-black matte instead of transparency. SpriteFix treats near-black as background when it measures each frame, so the gutters do not glue frames together.
Are my uploads kept?
No. Files are processed for that request and cleaned up afterwards. See the data collection disclosure for the full detail.
